June 26, 2017 – Philadelphia – Rubenstein Partners, L.P. (including its affiliates, “Rubenstein”), announced today the hiring of Fred Harmeyer, a seasoned real estate debt and equity investment professional with more than 25 years of industry experience. Mr. Harmeyer will be joining the firm as the Debt Portfolio Manager responsible for leading Rubenstein’s investment efforts to originate and hold first mortgage loans secured by transitional office buildings.

Mr. Harmeyer has extensive experience in starting and growing high-profile real estate debt investment groups. He formed and led the expansion of the large loan group at Merrill Lynch Mortgage Lending as a Managing Director, leading the group to become one of the top ranked firms in the commercial real estate lending/CMBS industry for principal loan origination and securitization volume. Activity totaled more than $20 billion in lending volume and spanned a broad range of clients and asset classes, including first mortgages, mezzanine, preferred equity, bridge loans and corporate debt. Before his tenure at Merrill Lynch, Mr. Harmeyer was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, where he served as a senior officer in the Large Loan-Principal Transactions group and originated in excess of $1 billion of large loans for institutional real estate clients.
In addition to his work with large loan real estate lending platforms, Mr. Harmeyer brings a broad range of real estate industry experience to the table, including his stint as a top-ranked Equity Research Analyst earlier in his career at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. In this position, he was involved in over $6 billion of debt and equity transactions for public and private companies in more than 25 IPOs and follow-on offerings. More recently he served as Partner, Head of Commercial Real Estate Debt Investments and Research at High Rise Capital Management, a long/short real estate securities investment manager with more than $1.5 billion of AUM at its peak. He was subsequently the Regional Head of Capital Markets for Cushman & Wakefield, where he oversaw the firm’s Investment Sales and Equity/Debt Finance groups nationally, as well as led the National Office Advisory Group.
Before his real estate career, Mr. Harmeyer was an attorney at Cravath, Swaine & Moore. He attended University of Virginia Law School, and Yale University for his undergraduate studies.
